Criminal Records - Media Academy Cymru (MAC)

MAC’s project ‘Criminal Records’ was a film project which worked with 45 Children and Young People (CYP) who experienced the criminal justice system to educate policy makers about the damaging effects of criminalising CYP.

The project produced 4 films designed by and starring CYP, most of whom are currently in the criminal justice system, telling the stories of CYP who were previously given a criminal record when they were children and the adverse effects it had. These stories support MAC's national campaign to stop the unnecessary criminalisation of children.

The judges felt this was a great project that promotes young people’s rights and interests through digital story telling.
