Main points
- 80.1 million items were prescribed by GPs in Wales and dispensed during 2018-19, up from 79.9 million (0.3%) in the previous year.
- The number of items prescribed per head (registered with a GP) in 2018-19 was 25.5, up from 24.9 in 2017-18.
Note
This new report combines two previous reports ‘Prescriptions by GPs’ and ‘Prescriptions dispensed in the community’ to provide a more coherent analysis of prescriptions in Wales.
