Certain bird gatherings may now take place across Wales

We have partially re-instated the general licence for gatherings (bird fairs, markets, shows etc). This follows a reduction in risk from avian influenza. Bird gatherings had been temporarily suspended across Wales on 11 November 2020.

The new general licence for bird gatherings allows all gatherings, except those of:

  • galliforme birds (including pheasants, partridge, quail, chickens, turkey, guinea fowl)
  • anseriforme birds (including ducks, geese, swans)
  • poultry, or
  • racing pigeon gatherings for mainland Europe pigeon races

You can find further details in the general licence document, which is being kept under constant review.
