An engineering apprentice recognised as the Llanwern Steelworks Ambassador for Magnet, Tata Steel Europe’s young professional organisation, is totally focused on becoming a chartered engineer.
Shane Ash, 26, from Risca, identified and saved Tata Steel Strip Products more than £22,000 when managing a major project to manufacture and install a coil transfer car.
Having completed an Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacture (Engineering Maintenance) and a HNC and a HND in Mechanical Engineering, he is working towards a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) in Mechanical Engineering and is seeking a BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Wales, where he achieved the HND. Coleg Gwent delivered all the other qualifications.
