Summary

Project status: WelTAG Stage 2
Region/county: Wrexham
Contractors: Mott Macdonald and their partners: Richards, Morehead and Laing.

Why we are doing it

The A483 is regularly congested. We want to improve how traffic moves around Wrexham and the wider north Wales region.

Current progress

We are working with stakeholders to assess congestion issues. We will work on a list of potential options.

We will consider the positives and negatives of the potential options and identify the preferred ones.

The project team will use:

  • traffic data
  • environmental data
  • engineering survey information

We will present the preferred options at a public consultation event to ask stakeholders advice. This information and our evaluation will help us identify the preferred options.

Timetable

Public information events: summer 2019
Identification of a preferred scheme: autumn 2019
Public consultation: autumn 2019
Public Inquiry (if needed): spring 2021
Estimated construction start date (subject to the minister's approval): spring 2022

How we are consulting

We are planning to hold public consultation events before the end of 2019. The consultation will last for 12 weeks.
