Members of the Senedd will wish to be aware I am giving consent to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to lay The Ivory Prohibitions (Civil Sanctions) Regulations 2022 on 16 March 2022. These regulations will come into force on 6 June 2022 and will commence the prohibition of ivory sales in the United Kingdom.

Agreement was sought by Victoria Prentis MP, Minister for Farming, Fisheries and Food to make these regulations, which will apply to the United Kingdom.

The Ivory Prohibitions (Civil Sanctions) Regulations 2022 make detailed provisions for the operation of the enforcement processes under the Act and will apply to the UK as a whole.

The Ivory Act (Commencement No.2) Regulations 2022 accompanies the Enforcement Regulations. These regulations commence sections of the Act on 6 June, when the prohibition of ivory sales in the UK will commence.
