Secure, well-paid, and sustainable employment offers both a route out of poverty and protection against it, not just for the individual, but also for their families. I want to ensure that the employability support we put in place for the future enables individuals to thrive and reach their potential in a digital and green economy.

The Welsh Government’s ‘Stronger, fairer, greener Wales: a plan for employability and skills’ committed us to prioritise and consolidate Welsh Government led, national employability support to ensure sure no one is left behind. We committed to targeting those under-represented in the labour market and people with health conditions to find work. To achieve this, we will adopt a collaborative and co-design approach, engaging with stakeholders at a local and national level, across various public and private sectors to deliver a personalised and individualised approach to employability support in Wales. This will start with a number of engagement events planned during early 2025 and an oral statement later in the year to update the Senedd on evidence collated and next steps.

The events will be held in each region of Wales over the coming months and the timetable is outlined below:

RegionDate
South East WalesTuesday 29 April 2025
North WalesThursday 8 May 2025
Mid WalesThursday 22 May 2025
South West WalesWednesday 4 June 2025
