The Design Commission for Wales (DCfW) is the national advisory body for the promotion of design excellence across the built environment. DCFW Ltd was set up in 2002 by the Welsh Government to carry out this role and help make Wales a better place.

Following an open recruitment process I am pleased to announce Simon Jones, Simon Power, Zaynub Akbar and Barney Evans will be joining the board of DCfW from 1 April 2025.  In addition following performance reviews Jon James, Cora Kwiatkowski, Mike Biddulph and Joanne Rees will be reappointed to their roles on the Board for a further four years.

The role of the Commission is to promote good design across all sectors, for our places, buildings and public spaces and to communicate the benefits of good design everywhere for everybody and with a refreshed Board demonstrating a wide range of relevant skills and experience I am confident of the contribution DCfW will be making to enhancing the built environment across all sectors over the next four years.

The appointment has been made for four years in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments, and on merit following an open, competitive process.
