Today, I will publish the latest COVID-19 vaccination programme update, and in the new term these updates will be released fortnightly.

Whilst there have been over 4.5 million COVID-19 vaccinations administered in Wales, there are still people who have not had their first dose. With the rise in positive COVID-19 cases, especially in adults aged 18-29 where the vaccine take-up is lowest, I want to remind us all that the vaccine is our best possible protection against coronavirus. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get their vaccine with centres across many parts of Wales open for walk-in appointments. Patient leaflets and information are available before receiving the vaccination so that you can make an informed decision. Healthcare professionals at vaccination centres can help with any questions.  Please encourage anybody to come forward before the booster campaign begins in the autumn.

For those who have already come forward, I would like to thank you for playing your part in keeping us all safe. I also want to thank all those involved for their incredible work which makes this progress possible.

This statement is being issued during recess in order to keep members informed. Should members wish me to make a further statement or to answer questions on this when the Senedd returns I would be happy to do so.
