I attended the first meeting of the COP26 Devolved Administrations Group on 6 November.

The meeting was chaired by the Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP, COP President Designate. The other attendees were Iain Stewart MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland, Rt Hon Simon Hart MP, Secretary of State for Wales, Robin Walker MP, Minister of State for Northern Ireland, Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform, Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands and Edwin Poots MLA, Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.

The meeting focussed on the UK’s presidency objectives and planning for the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), which will be held in Glasgow in November 2021. We discussed the approach towards collaboration with the Devolved Administrations and towards stakeholder engagement.
