Members will wish to be aware that I am, today, publishing the consultation documents for Llwybr Newydd – A New Wales Transport Strategy. The consultation period will run from 17 November 2020 until 25 January 2021.

Lee Waters MS, Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport will be making an oral statement in the Chamber later today to provide Members with more details.

Llwybr Newydd – A New Wales Transport Strategy sets out our ambitions for transport over the next 20 years, informed by extensive stakeholder engagement and including our policy delivery proposals and performance assessment measures.

The draft Strategy sets out underpinning plans for active travel, rail, bus, roads (including streets and parking), third sector, taxis & private hire vehicles, freight & logistics, aviation and ports & maritime.

It will not identify or present specific projects, schemes, initiatives or interventions, as these will be set out in the five-year detailed National Transport Delivery Plan developed and delivered by Transport for Wales.

I hope that members will engage with the consultation process and encourage their constituents to respond with their thoughts and ideas.
