In a previous statement I advised members of the action that is being taken to address the shortcomings identified during the inspection of education services for children and young people in Monmouthshire.  I said that I would keep Members informed of progress in respect of the Recovery Board we established to support the authority.

Today I am announcing the appointment of two new members to the recovery board.  They are being appointed to replace two members who have left the Board over the last few months.  I am appointing Steve Phillips and David Williams.

Steve is currently Chief Executive of Neath Port Talbot and David was the former Director of Children and Young People’s Services at Reading and Durham Councils and former board member and chair of the Pembrokeshire Recovery Board.

The board membership is now:

Jonathon Morgan – Chair
Rod Alcott
Steve Phillips
David Williams

I will continue to keep colleagues updated as progress is made.
This statement is being issued during recess in order to keep members informed. Should members wish me to make a further statement or to answer questions on this when the Assembly returns I would be happy to do so.
