Following the General Principles debate on the Abolition of the Right to Buy and Associated Right (Wales) Bill in the National Assembly on 18 July, I have, today, launched a formal consultation on the draft ‘Information for Tenants of Social Landlords’ document.

This reflects commitments made during my appearance at the Equalities and Local Government Committee, and in the General Principles debate, to consult widely on the information document. I am committed to ensuring that all tenants are given clear information about what the legislation will mean to them, if it is passed by the National Assembly.

I would encourage everyone with an interest in this matter to respond to the consultation. In particular, tenants of social landlords and tenants’ groups should take this opportunity to provide their views to ensure the document is fit for purpose and meets the needs of tenants across Wales.

The consultation is available at: consultations.gov.wales/consultations/draft-information-tenants-social-landlords-document and will close on 13 September.
