Director of the CBI  in Wales Emma Watkins is to join Welsh Government to manage relations with some of the largest and most important business employers across Wales.

Economy and Infrastructure Secretary Ken Skates welcomed the appointment. He said: 

"Emma will be a valuable addition to the Welsh Government’s Economic and Infrastructure team. Having led at the forefront of Welsh business for several years, she has the experience, knowledge and understanding to play a key role in further strengthening Welsh Government relationships with our Anchor and Regionally Important Companies at this challenging time."

Ms Watkins, who will join Welsh Government next month, said: 

“I am delighted to be joining the Welsh Government at this critical time for the Welsh economy. Having worked extensively with businesses across the UK whilst at the CBI, I am excited at the prospect of playing a direct role in driving forward the Welsh economy from within government. 

“Wales has some great businesses and I look forward to helping them thrive further, and to attracting more businesses to Wales as we secure a fairer, more prosperous country.”
