Overnight domestic GB trips: revised
The data has been revised as a result of the correction to Great Britain Tourism Survey data. For more information please see the 'overnight visits by GB residents' section in the report.
There were 8.1 million overnight domestic GB trips to Wales in the first nine months of 2018, generating expenditure of £1.539 billion.
Domestic GB tourism day visits
During the first nine months of 2018 there were 75 million Tourism Day visits in Wales. These visits generated expenditure of £3.156 billion.
International visits
There were 784,000 trips taken in Wales by international visitors during the first nine months of 2018 with an expenditure of £320 million.
Wales accommodation occupancy rates
Average room occupancy rates during January to September 2018:
- Hotels: 68%
- Guesthouse/Bed and Breakfast: 38%
- Self-catering: 59%
- Hostel: 54%
Wales Tourism Barometer
The most recent wave (November 2018) indicated that 78% of businesses had seen greater or equal levels of visitors compared with the same period in 2017. 84% of businesses expressed confidence for the season ahead.
