Overnight domestic GB trips
There were 4.8 million overnight domestic GB trips to Wales in the first six months of 2019, which was an increase of 6%, generating expenditure of £880 million.
Domestic GB tourism day visits
During the first six months of 2019, there were 37.7 million Tourism Day visits in Wales, which was a decrease of 19%. These visits generated expenditure of £1,472(r) million.
International visitors
The number of international trips to Wales during the first six months of 2019 rose by 3% to 446,000. Visitor spending was £174 million, which was a 4% increase on same time last year
Wales accommodation occupancy rates January to June average
Hotels: 62%
Guesthouse/B&B: 33%
Self-catering: 54%
Hostel: 50%
Caravan holiday homes (April to June): 89%
Touring caravans and camping parks (April to June): 36%
Wales Tourism Barometer
Wave 3 (August/September 2019) indicated that 79% of businesses had seen greater or equal levels of visitors compared with the same period in 2018 (35% greater, 44% equal).
