An action plan for Wales seeks to improve attainment through creativity, increase and improve arts experiences in schools, and support teachers and arts practitioners in developing their skills.

The plan, developed in partnership between the Welsh Government and Arts Council of Wales, responds to the 12 recommendations of Professor Dai Smith’s independent report on the review of Arts and Education in the Schools of Wales (2013).  The implementation of the plan will be led by the Arts Council of Wales, working with regional education consortia, local authorities, arts and cultural organisations and other key stakeholders.

This plan seeks to deliver the Programme for Government commitment to maximise young people’s participation in the arts. It has also been informed by and seeks to support the delivery of a number of Welsh Government policies and strategic initiatives, including Qualified for Life: An Education Improvement Plan for 3 to 19 year olds in Wales (2014).
