Main points
- During 2017/18, staff numbers, directly employed by further education institutions, amounted to 8,520 FTEs.
- The overall number of direct staff FTEs rose by 6% between 2016/17 and 2017/18. This increase was, at least in part, due to a college acquiring two work-based learning providers during the year.
- Year on year changes in staff FTE numbers varied across further education institutions, with all but five institutions experiencing an overall increase in staff FTE numbers relative to 2016/17.
