Tyler Ford
Young Person award winner 2020
Tyler Ford is 12 years old and lives in Swansea. Tyler has been World kickboxing champion 9 times, is a triple gold medallist in the World Martial Art Games, and was the youngest person ever to be inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, aged 8. Tyler is also the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association national boxing Champion and British Mixed Martial Arts Champion. Tyler has won over 200 gold medals in international competitions. He received the Britain Citizen Youth Award medal at Westminster Palace in 2018 for services to sport and charity.
The main reason for Tyler’s nomination is for his charity work for other children, hospitals, and the RSPCA centre.
For example, Tyler recently helped a 4 year old fan who was very sick with cancer, had had many operations, and had been in hospital for 5 months. He visited the boy in hospital, and gave him his World Champion Gold medal, telling him he was the real champion. He also raised funds so that the child could be bought a specially adapted wheelchair, and be able to leave his hospital bed.
Tyler is an ambassador for anti-bullying campaigns Bullies Out and Bully Beware, and supports other charities that make a difference to children’s lives – all of which he fits in around his schooling, acting and being a young stuntman.
