Business award winner

Ed Reeves and Rachel Clacher CBE, a brother and sister, established Moneypenny in 2000 after the call handling service Ed used lost him a client while he was away on holiday.

The aim was to offer an exceptional call answering service for businesses. Today, the company offers the same amazing people but a wider range of technology driven customer communication services, such as a telephone answering, switchboard, social media and more recently Live Chat to 13,000 businesses and handles around 15 million calls and chats annually and employs around 650 people at its purpose-built headquarters in Wrexham. The company also has offices in London and Charleston, USA. With the business valued at around £100 million, the company is growing at a rate of around 20% a year.

The company invests heavily in its staff and is committed to having one of the best workplaces in the UK. This commitment has earned them a place on the Sunday Times list of Best Business to Work For, for nearly 10 years.

In 2015, the company set up a charitable foundation, which is now called We Mind the Gap, offering traineeships to young people in the workplace in Wrexham. This programme has now been expanded to also include Flintshire, Manchester and Liverpool.

The programme includes a 6-month traineeship offering work experience with five different employers as well as coaching and mentoring to help them reach their potential.
