Nominated for Citizenship award

Linda is the founder and Director of Cwmni Seren, a charitable company providing accommodation, care and work opportunities for young people and adults with learning difficulties.

Thanks to Linda’s vision and determination many people with learning difficulties have been given the opportunity to earn money, develop skills, self confidence and self respect. Through establishing the company many people (those with disabilities and those without) now have a full-time job - with Blaenau Ffestiniog being in a Category 1 area, such job opportunities can be rare. It is now one of the area’s biggest employers. Linda ensures the services provided by Cwmni Seren are fully bilingual, of a very high standard and her dedication and care is clear to see. The company’s recycling facility, launched in 2011 as part of the Cylch Wales Community Recycling Network, has been recognised as an exemplar provider of sustainable, economic and social opportunities, and highly beneficial to the Blaenau Ffestiniog area.

She is currently establishing a 3 Star Hotel in Meirionydd, Gwesty Seren, tailored for the needs of those with learning difficulties and their families, the first of its kind in Britain. Families will be able to relax in a safe environment knowing there is appropriate care available.
