Nominated for Citizenship award

Janet Rogers is from Sarn near Newtown. She is a volunteer and member representative on the Board of Trustees at the Ponthafren Association. The charity was set up in 1992 to provide a range of mental health support services in North Powys and Janet was a trustee for 9 years.

Ponthafren began as a small support group in 1992, becoming a registered charity in 1994. Throughout the years, Ponthafren has blossomed and helped many people.

They operate over North Powys and provide 2 wellness, learning and recovery centres and an outreach service.

Janet is responsible for looking after Ponthafren’s community garden in Newtown, located on the banks of the river Severn.

Janet has shared her own experience of suffering with mental health with many organisations in Wales. She hopes this will enable them to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

She was also a key member of the Expert Reference Group, who reviewed part of the mental health code of practice in England.
