Jacob Allman-Whitehouse
Nominated for Young person award
Jacob is a 9 year-old boy from Rhyl who has shown great courage and strength in managing the illness and loss of his father to cancer.
Shortly after losing his father Jacob raised £3,500 for St Kentigern Hospice which cared for his father in his final days. Jacob sold his toys at car boot sales to raise money to support the hospice and openly shared his story and how he was feeling to others.
Jacob has also raised £200 by running for ‘Race for Life’ and his aim is to fundraise for a different cancer charity every year.
More recently he has been attending bereavement days and talking about his experience of losing a parent to other children that have gone through the same at such a young age.
Just 4 days after his dad’s passing Jacob went back to school as he was concerned that his friends would worry about him.
Jacob is an inspirational young boy who has handled the loss of his father with such strength and resilience whilst thinking about those around him and how they are feeling at such a difficult time.
