Hazel Lim is founder of the Chinese Autism Support Group to improve knowledge and understanding of autism. Following her son’s diagnosis with autism, Hazel moved to Swansea and undertook a master’s degree so she could learn more about the condition. Hazel knew that within Chinese culture, there was a huge stigma attached to ASD. It is often hidden, and a diagnosis can feel like the end of the world for many families in her community.

Hazel is battling to change that perception and wants to provide the support to those children and their families who so desperately need it. Hazel has provided a lifeline for many families in Swansea and is looking to increase the support she offers. By breaking down these cultural barriers, she is ensuring that young people with autism are given the right support to fulfil their potential.
