Kate Woolveridge, Forget Me Not Chorus
Nominated for Culture and sport award
The Forget-me-not Chorus is a truly inspirational charity that uses the power of song to empower both people living with and alongside dementia. The charity was co-founded in 2010 by Kate Woolveridge, an accomplished Mezzo-Soprano, vocal amateur and singing teacher.
Pre-pandemic, Kate and her team of professional musicians ran ten choirs across Wales, reaching over 300 people every week in community, care home and hospital settings.
Determined to respond to the challenges of Covid-19, the team have continued to support their vulnerable Forget-me-not family through a combination of weekly live zoom rehearsals, online interactive films, bespoke song dedications and outdoor sessions. Over 200 care homes now access the free virtual films and the weekly zoom rehearsals, attended by people across the UK, continuing to harness the power of song to unite, energise, engage and inspire.
