Carwyn Williams
Young Person award 2016 winner
Carwyn Williams from Llandudno has been chosen as a Finalist in the Young Person category of the St David Awards for having turned his life around through volunteering.
Carwyn was expelled from school in Year 9 and transferred to a specialist unit which he also left after realising he didn’t want to carry on with his education.
At 16 he left school with no qualifications but 2 years later he is an enthusiastic volunteer at the Healthy Image Project where he promotes physical activity and a healthy lifestyle to young people in Conwy County Borough by delivering health education sessions and running new and innovative sports for young people such as futsal and handball.
He recently won the Wales Young Volunteer of the Year award at the National StreetGames Awards and was part of a group to receive a Highly Commended award by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
