Beth Baldwin
Nominated for Volunteering award
As a bereaved mum, Beth has been volunteering and raising awareness of type 1 diabetes in memory of her son, Peter, who tragically died of the disease in 2015 aged 13. In the past 9 years, the Baldwin family has raised over £100,000 and saved multiple children’s lives. Beth has been instrumental in changing Welsh government policy for type 1 diabetes diagnosis.
This past year Beth has secured an additional £20,000 funds and launched a campaign to ‘Rewrite Peter’s Story’ and ensure his legacy. She is responsible for sending type 1 resource packs to every GP practice across Wales.
The project led by Beth and supported by Diabetes UK Cymru brings together local community groups, local advertising and utilising key partners across Wales to make the biggest impact.
As a trainer Beth’s coached and taught thousands of women to improve their lives and career progression. An ambassador, trustee and campaigner for many local charities (Diabetes UK Cymru, 2Wish, Believe Organ Donation, Bullies Out, Chwarae Teg) she spends her days giving back and making a difference to the lives of those around her. A campaigner, volunteer, fundraiser, advocate and ally, Beth is on a mission to change the course for others and give the next generation inspiration and a better world.
Beth’s CV includes, petitioning, giving evidence, speaking on national stages, podcasts, news outlets. Peter’s death was preventable, Beth’s mission is to ensure no other child dies unnecessarily of a diagnosis of type 1.
