Business award 2025 winner

Bad Wolf is a high-end TV drama production company based in Cardiff and committed to making all of its productions in Wales. Its most recent productions are Dope Girls and Doctor Who.

It is also the only UK production company that has a dedicated outreach/training and education facility.

Committed to best practice, employee wellbeing and a strong work culture, Bad Wolf has also founded two other companies to grow the production base and crew in Wales. These are:

Wolf Studios Wales (WSW) - a bespoke TV production studio in Cardiff which hosts Bad Wolf’s productions, is available to hire and is also home to the Bad Wolf HQ. WSW is one of only seven UK studios to achieve a ‘Very Good’ albert industry Studio Standard sustainability scoring in 2024.

Screen Alliance Wales (SAW) - a philanthropic screen agency with a focus on education, training and skills development. Bad Wolf created SAW to ensure the longevity of the TV production industry in Wales.

Between 2015 and 2020, Bad Wolf spent a total of £259 million on the production of 7 seasons of television – A Discovery of Witches seasons 1, 2 and 3, His Dark Materials seasons 1 and 2, Industry and I Hate Suzie.

The company spent £121.8 million in Wales as payments for labour and to suppliers and intellectual property holders based in Wales. They generated £114 million in gross value added (GVA) for the Welsh economy, and created a total of 2,243 Full Time Equivalent posts for creative industries workers.

2025 marks the 10-year anniversary of the company.
