Data on the number and value of claims made up to 15 August 2021.
This is not the latest release in the series: Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and Self-Employment Income Support Scheme statistics
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have published the number of claims made to the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) up to 15 August 2021.
These statistics set out information on the fifth grant of the Self Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) which opened for claims on the 29 July 2021 and will close on 30 September 2021.
Main points
- Up to 15 August 2021, there have been 29,000 successful claims for the fifth SEISS in Wales, which is 21% of those who are eligible for the scheme.
- The take up so far has been lower than the fourth grant, and data shows a declining trend in take up from the first SEISS grant to the fifth.
- The value up to 15 August 2021 of all claims made in Wales under the fifth grant was £62 million.
- Self-employed people working in construction in Wales accounted for by far the largest share of all claims (34%).
Note
The claim window will remain open until the end of September 2021, so the data is not final for the fifth grant.
