The aim of this research was to review the current parenting entitlement in Flying Start and support the future development of the programme.

The study was based around a rapid evidence assessment, updating previous work in this area. In addition, telephone consultations were undertaken with Flying Start staff and key stakeholders. The review focused on universal and targeted/specialist programmes of support, which were further divided into three thematic areas: perinatal support and support in the early years; early intervention approaches to supporting vulnerable parents; and positive parenting.

Findings from the work will be used to inform the future direction of guidance on parenting support within the Flying Start programme.
