The research undertook primary and secondary research to look at three main themes:
- economic assessment of the sector - looking at the direct and indirect effects of the sector on the wider economy
- analysis of childcare providers to gain an insight into current provision and capacity as well as opportunities and challenges for the sector
- research into the costs, revenues and efficiencies of the childcare sector in Wales.
