All data relate to 2019, which is before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
GDP in Wales in 2019 was £77.5 billion, an increase of 2.7% from 2018. GDP for the UK (excluding extra-regio) rose by 3.5%.
GDP per head in Wales in 2019 was £24,586, an increase of 2.2% on 2018.
Gross Value Added (GVA) (Balanced)
Total GVA in Wales in 2019 was £67.1 billion, up 2.6% on 2018. GVA for the UK (excluding extra-regio) rose by 3.6%.
GVA per head in Wales in 2019 was £21,295, up 2.1% on 2018. This is the third lowest annual increase within the 12 UK countries and English regions. GVA per head for the UK (excluding extra-regio) rose by 3.0%.
GVA per head in Wales in 2019 was 72.6% of the UK figure (excluding extra-regio), the second lowest of the UK countries and English regions. This was down 0.7 percentage points over the year.
