Original consultation
The white paper ‘Reforming local government: resilient and renewed’ is the Welsh Government’s statement of intent about the future of local government in Wales.
Consultation description
We are consulting on proposals which:
- set out arrangements for regional working
- strengthen the role of councils and councillors
- provide the framework for future voluntary mergers
- detail the role of community councils.
We are also seeking views on reform to the electoral system for local government in Wales.
Since publication, an additional issue on the governance of substance misuse arrangements has been identified on which some people might like to comment, about which a letter has been sent to those most likely to have an interest.
