Discussions before planning applications can improve applications and help to deliver higher quality developments. We have produced draft practice guidance to help realise those benefits.
Consultation description
The guidance aims to help local planning authorities provide advice before planning applications. But it may interest developers consultees and other stakeholders.
What evidence is there for new guidance?
The need for the practice guide was identified in the Study to Examine the Planning Application Process in Wales. Recommendation 12 was to produce a best practice guide for the pre-application stage of the planning application process.
We accepted this recommendation and have produced this draft guidance.
