We want your views on the proposal for an alternative method to determine the ages of sheep at slaughter.
Consultation description
Sheep over 12 months of age need specified risk material to be removed to protect public health.
At present, abattoirs examine the sheep’s “adult” teeth to decide its age. We want your views on the proposal to allow abattoirs to use alternative methods to determine the age of a sheep.
