Ysgol Penyffordd, Penyffordd

Ysgol Penyffordd responded to news of the refugee crises faced by Syria and Afghanistan to build a whole-school approach that uses literature at its heart. Their work has equipped pupils with knowledge and understanding of the experiences of others to drive their empathy.

This programme has inspired pupils to come forward to tell their family’s story and started many conversations at home.

More than just awareness of the experiences of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic perspectives, the school now strives for equality and fairness; the children and staff want to learn and to experience more.
