“Option 2” is a project in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan that works with families in which parents have drug or alcohol problems and there are children at risk of harm.

A particular focus of the service is reducing the need for children to come into public care. An additional literature review on outcomes for children in the care system was carried out and is the subject of a separate report.
