Original consultation
The Welsh Government is seeking views on new proposals to support the development of a new National Youth Work Strategy.
Consultation description
Youth work is fun and enables young people to participate in challenging non-formal and informal learning and development opportunities. Youth work is based primarily on a voluntary relationship between young people and youth workers.
The National Occupational Standards for Youth Work (2012) identified that the key purpose of youth work is to;
'Enable young people to develop holistically working with them to facilitate their personal social and educational development to enable them to develop their voice influence and place in society and to reach their full potential'
The Welsh Government committed in the Programme for Government to update the National Youth Service Strategy. We are now seeking views on proposals for this strategy. Your contribution will help ensure that we get the right youth work strategy in place to support young people in Wales and help them reach their full potential.
The outcomes of this consultation will be used to inform a new National Youth Work Strategy for Wales to be published during the autumn.
