The Minister for Health and Social Services, Vaughan Gething has today (Tuesday 29th September ) announced the appointment of Kate Eden as the new Chair of the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC).

Kate will take up the position on 1 October 2020 for a four year term.

She WHSSC is responsible for the joint planning and commissioning of specialised and highly specialised Services on behalf of the seven Local Health Boards in Wales.

Kate has extensive senior experience in private and public companies as well as seventeen years’ experience of working with government, public and third sectors. She is also an independent member and Vice Chair of Public Health Wales, a role she will continue to perform alongside her new appointment.

Minister for Health and Social Services, Vaughan Gething, said:

It gives me great pleasure to announce Kate Eden as the new WHSSC Chair. This is a vital role and Kate brings valuable skills and experience to the position. I wish her every success and look forward to working with her.

I would also like to thank the outgoing Chair, Professor Vivienne Harpwood, for the dedication she has shown as Chair, and to wish her well. She has been interim Chair of WHSSC for just over three years and she has shown great leadership during this time.
