Health Minister, Vaughan Gething, has announced the appointment of Martin Woodford as the new Chair of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust for a three year period.
This was published under the 2016 to 2021 administration of the Welsh Government
Mr Gething said:
“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Woodford as the new Chair of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust. Mr Woodford brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the NHS to this role. It is an important and challenging time for the NHS in Wales as we look to deliver a health service fit for the future and Martin Woodford’s knowledge, personal drive and passion for the role will help drive that work forward.”
Martin said:
“I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been appointed Chair of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust. In my time with the Trust thus far, I have been hugely impressed by the dedication and commitment of our workforce.
My task as Chair over the next three years, along with my Chief Executive and our fellow Board members, will be to support our staff in delivering the best possible service to the Welsh public. There are challenges, which have been well publicised, but I am confident that by working collaboratively with our staff and Trade Unions internally and our external partners, we can realise that ambition.”
Martin, who joined the service in 2014, has more than 30 years’ experience in the local government and healthcare environment. He was Chief Executive of Powys Healthcare Trust prior to re-organisation, and more recently Chief Executive of the former Hereford Hospital Trust and its successor organisation Wye Valley NHS Trust.
Martin has previously served as Non-Executive Director and Vice Chair and in 2018 was appointed as Interim Chair to Welsh Ambulance Service Trust for a period of 12 months.
