I have received the report of the Low Carbon Vehicle Expert Steering Group.

I established the group to provide me with advice and recommendations on the development of the low carbon vehicle sector in Wales to maximise the sector’s opportunities for growth and jobs and to support social and environmental benefits.

I would like to thank the Chair of the Group, Professor Garel Rhys, and all the members for their input.

I welcome the report which makes a range of recommendations, a number of which I am pleased to say we are already taking forward with individual businesses as part of my portfolio responsibilities.

A major theme of the report is the desirability of having a more integrated approach in terms of government advice and support, which I support.  This is reflected in other key recommendations which have significant cross portfolio implications both in terms of policy and funding.

I commend these recommendations for future consideration, in recognition that they require looking at in more detail and within a joined up approach, in order to be progressed effectively.
