The fieldwork for the Longitudinal Small Business Survey (LSBS) 2019 took place between July 2019 and February 2020. This timing means that the survey fieldwork was completed at the very onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the findings are unaffected by the challenges this created. Accordingly, the LSBS 2019 findings can provide an important benchmark against which the impacts of the pandemic and any subsequent recovery can be measured.
