Main points
- 21,071 staff were directly employed by local authority social services departments, comprising 11,261 (53%) part-time staff and 9,810 (47%) full-time staff.
- There were 16,426 whole-time equivalent directly employed staff.
- 12,891 (77%) of relevant staff held a required or recommended occupational qualification.
- 3,461 (16%) of staff were Welsh speaking.
