This dataset enables household analyses to be carried out at a local authority level for 2018.

Main points

In 2018, 17.2% of households in Wales were workless. This compares with 14.5% of households in the UK.

In 2018, Pembrokeshire and Bridgend had the largest percentages of workless households in Wales, at 22.4% and 22.3% respectively. Monmouthshire (10.3%) had the lowest percentage of workless households.

In 2018, 12.6% of children in Wales lived in a workless household, compared with 10.5% in the UK.

In 2018, 7.9% of households were lone parent families, which is broadly similar to the UK figure (7.8%). Between 2016 and 2018, Merthyr Tydfil (12.2%) and Newport (9.8%) had the highest percentages of lone parent households in Wales.
