Dusty Kennedy is a member of the Interim Youth Work Board.
Dusty is National Partnership Lead working in Public Health Wales on the Early Action Together Programme; a pan-Wales collaboration introducing trauma-informed practice to the 4 police forces and wider criminal justice agencies. He also provides independent consultancy and training, specialising in services for vulnerable people.
Dusty began working with young people as a volunteer mentor and detached youth worker, followed by 18 years experience working in the youth justice system as a practitioner and manager; most recently, spending 6 years as Director of the YJB in Wales. He was responsible for national oversight of the community youth justice system, contracts and commissioning of the children's secure estate, government relations and developing innovative practice.
Before this he spent 3 years as Welsh Government Head of Youth Justice Strategy; using experience gained in practice and senior management at the national policy formulation level.
