Policy
In August 2022 we published the Wales Procurement Policy Statement which set out our strategic vision for all public sector procurement in Wales. Our own Procurement Policy Statement for Welsh Government Procurement was published in November 2021 as an example for other public sector organisations.
All Wales Procurement Policy Notes (WPPNs) and UK government Procurement Policy Notes (PPNs) that we have adopted are available here.
We have published a number of reports which may be of interest to public sector buyers:
- Report on the evolution of Welsh Government procurement
- A toolkit for insourcing in Wales: interim report
- Report by Cwmpas mapping the current social value landscape within Wales
- Procurement Centre of Excellence for Wales (Cyd) end of Alpha report: Executive summary
Procurement is an important and effective lever to achieve our policy ambitions in Wales. More information, guidance and training on how procurement can maximise social value through the delivery of more well-being impacts is available here.
Resources
Cyd is a collaborative centre of excellence where procurement and commercial communities can learn and support each other. It contains lots of useful resources including a step by step procurement journey [link] for procurement professionals to follow.
We have developed a pipeline of future procurement activity with local government partners for public sector colleagues to use in their procurements.
