Main points
- The Index of Production for Wales decreased by 2.8% in the year to September 2018, compared with the previous twelve months. UK output increased by 1.5% over the same period. The decrease in Wales was largely accounted for by falls in output in Electricity, Gas and Water Supply and Basic Metals and Metal Products. The short term trend for Wales shows a 0.3% decrease when comparing the latest quarter to the previous quarter. UK output increased by 0.6%, over the same period.
- The Index of Construction for Wales increased by 13.2% in the year to September 2018, compared with the previous twelve months. UK output increased by 1.4% over the same period. The short term trend for Wales shows a 10.9% when comparing the latest quarter to the previous quarter. In the UK output increased by 2.3% over the same period.
