Background
The Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales was responsible for determining the level of payments to elected members of councils, corporate joint committees, national park authorities and fire and rescue authorities in Wales.
The panel was established in 2008 and was independent of central and local government. It had powers to make recommendations on proposed variations to the remuneration of chief executives of principal councils in Wales.
The panels produced an annual report which was consulted upon. The annual report contained all of the determinations of the panel.
