Original consultation
We are providing the opportunity for stakeholders across Wales to provide their input on the first set of consultations in order for us to deliver requirements of the act.
Consultation description
The draft regulations and code of practice have been developed through a consultative process with our main stakeholders.
The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 received Royal Assent on 1 May 2014. The act forms the basis for a new statutory framework for social care in Wales.
The regulations will be made under the appropriate sections of the act. The codes of practice are issued under section 145.
Part 3 covers assessing the needs of individuals.
Part 4 of the act covers:
- how to decide whether people are eligible for care and support
- direct payments
- the planning of care and support.
Further information can be found in the executive summary.
Assessment and Eligibility YouTube video
The short film illustrates some of the changes which we have set out through the consultation on Parts 3 and 4 of the Social Services and Well-being Act. The extracts that follow in this film demonstrate how the new assessment process and the eligibility test could operate under the regulations and code of practice which we have open for consultation.
