The fastest way to get an NHS COVID Pass is to apply online. The NHS COVID Pass can be downloaded and printed.

The NHS COVID Pass lets you securely share your COVID-19:

  •  vaccination records
  •  test results

You must:

  • be aged 16 or over
  • be registered with a GP in Wales or England

You will need to upload a photo of one of the following:

  • passport
  • full UK driving licence
  • full European driving licence

You may also be asked to record a short video of yourself.

Get your NHS COVID Pass (on nhs.uk) from the NHS UK website. You need to use this link if you live in Wales. You cannot use the NHS app to get the COVID pass as this functionality is for NHS England only.

Once you have downloaded your NHS COVID Pass, the barcode will be valid for 30 days. This will update automatically every time you log into the service.

If you need a paper copy of your NHS COVID Pass you can download a pdf of your pass and print it. This will be valid for 30 days and will renew every time you log on and you can print a new copy.

If you cannot apply online

If you are unable to access the digital version or do not have photographic ID, you can request a paper certificate.

This paper certificate has been designed for international travel but will be a valid evidence for entering a domestic venue or event. The paper NHS COVID certificate only provides evidence of full vaccination.

Paper certificates can only be issued if:

  • you have had a full course of the COVID-19 vaccine (you should wait 5 days after your final dose before requesting it)
  • you are aged 16 or over

Call 0300 303 5667 to request a COVID Pass (please only request this if you are unable to use the digital NHS COVID Pass).

The phone service is experiencing high volumes of calls so you may need to wait for your call to be answered.

It can take up to 10 working days for a certificate to arrive. No requests can be fast tracked and certificates cannot be collected.

You can call 7 days a week between 9am and 5pm.

Calls are typically charged between 2p and 40p per minute and are included in free call packages.

GPs and health boards cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 status.
